True happiness

by Xóchitl Muñoz (@XochitlMunoz)
How many people do you know who are truly happy? How many times a day do you feel completely content and satisfied with where you're at and what you're doing? Being happy seems like such a simple idea, so why is it so hard for us to find happiness and keep it?

Usually, we feel happy when something "good" happens to us. I have news for you. Things happen to us. They are neither good or bad. We control whether they are good or bad. How the hell do we do that? With our minds. Yup, you heard right. With our minds!
Think about it. Your boyfriend or girlfriend breaks up with you. You cry and cry, and one day, all of a sudden, you feel better. Then, eventually you meet someone else, and maybe even fall in love. Suddenly, you're able to look back at that person who broke up with you and say, "I'm glad that happened, because I met the person I'm with now".

This applies for any situation. Stop feeling bad for yourself and start thinking about what positive things can come out of every situation. Remember, the true source of happiness is within each of us.

  1. Love this post, it is all in how you look at a situation. Most of the time the way we look at things leads to our view of them. If we think people are basically bad, a simple act will be interpreted as bad. If we think people are basically good, the same simple act will be interpreted as good. Look inside of yourself for more of an understanding and towards satisfaction in life.
