Earth Day 2011

At the height of the Hippie Movement back in 1970, Earth Day was established. Every year since, on April 22nd, it has been recognized as a day of service and commitment to the welfare of the Earth.
At the time of it's origin, Americans were guzzling up gas in their V8 sedans and factories were dispensing smoke and sludge with no fear of legal consequence. The smell of pollution in the air was the smell of prosperity and growth. 20 million forward-thinking Americans, organized by Earth Day's founder, Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson, took to the streets in protest and to spread awareness of the damage being done to the Earth. 41 years later, Earth Day is celebrated just as strongly, and the fight for a clean environment continues, as citizens attempt to fight the Earth's newest problems. So, on Earth Day 2011, get out and give the Earth a hand!
