Dubbed "Twitter with Pictures", Instagram was an instant hit and a welcomed addition to the social media world. Bloggers rejoiced, tweeters clapped, and tumblrs, well they tumbled but all in a support manner.
Debuting in October 2009, Instagram quickly surpassed 2 million users in the space of about 2 months. Now almost two and a half years old, Instgram is still only an iPhone app. No Android, no website. This leaves to the question, are you Instagraming, and if so why not? You don't have an iPhone? well all you need is the iTunes app store to get instagrms therefore those with an iPad or an iTouch are also able to access this app.
Most appealing about Instagram would have to be the filters. Instagram allows the user to add filters to one's pictures to edit them or change the feel. It even goes as far as to allow the user to create depth of field in a picture where there previously was none, (see below) avid photographers will appreciate this feature more than others. Instagram goes a step further than other picture sharing apps by allowing the user to make their own art. a delicate appreciation for color, a dark tint or an added splash or light make a big difference.
