Summer Reading

Everybody needs a couple books to read during the lazy summer months, and WadidoLA has the perfect suggestions when it comes to new releases.

"Play Like You Mean It: Passion, Laughs, and Leadership in the World's Most Beautiful Game" by Rex Ryan, head coach of the Jets, is a new release that's bound to be a hit and no football fan will want to pass up. Rex Ryan is well-respected in the NFL for being outspoken, and in his novel he lets the reader in on his passion for football, the lessons he's learned through coaching, and stories about the teams he's coached, recruiting players, and growing up around the game. "Play Like You Mean It" is an inspirational and motivational read, as well as being incredibly informational.

Tyrese Gibson, actress, singer, and songwriter, recently released his memoir, "How to Get Out of Your Own Way". Tyrese's memoir is full of personal experiences guided by reflective questions that he hopes will inspire readers to follow their own dreams and overcome obstacles. Tyrese himself describes the book as, "It's not about talking down to people, it's about elevating them". "How to Get Out of Your Own Way" reflects ideas from his popular blog, "The Love Circle", and is a guide to helping yourself by using your experiences as a learning tool. Tyrese's long list of accomplishments make him the perfect person to take advice from, so if you're looking for a motivational read and tips on how to achieve success, this is the book for you.

"The Heart and the Fist: The Education of a Humanitarian, the Making of a Navy SEAL" is, by no surprise, written by Eric Greitens, a Rhode Scholar and Navy SEAL. This emotional story is about one man's life of leadership and service. Greitens has worked as a volunteer in Bolivia, a Marine in Iraq, a student in India, and a Navy SEAL in Afghanistan. His incredible dedication to service and protecting our nation makes readers reflect on what it means to live a meaningful life and will surely leave you in awe of, and eternally thankful, to those that put their lives on the line for our safety each and every day. "The Heart and the Fist" is a story of strength and sacrifice that is extremely rewarding to read no matter who the audience is.
