Generation iPad

With all the technology being produced today, and the readiness with which it's being marketed, it's no surprise that kids have become a large portion of the consumers. I mean, a young customer is a customer for life, right? The effects of today's technology-obsessed children haven't been lost on me. As soon as I walk in the door and greet the kids I babysit for, they scream, "Can we play with your phone?!" Now, I love my Blackberry Torch too, but when I was eight, I couldn't have cared less. I didn't even get a cell phone until I was fourteen, and here I have a nine year old inputting her contact info. My aunt just got a Macbook Air, and not only do her kids use it more than her, but they know how to work it better. My twelve year old cousin just got an iPad for her birthday. When I was a kid, we could only spend half an hour a day on the computer that my entire family shared. I hardly watched TV except cartoons on Sunday mornings, and I listened to the only two CD's I had on an outdated CD player.

Fooducate

The summer is a great time to have fun, relax, spend time with friends and family, and enjoy the beautiful weather. However, it's important that with all the relaxation and enjoyment, you're still taking care of yourself. Now, that's easier than ever. Fooducate is a company created and run by parents, dietitians, and techies that makes reading nutrition labels and ingredient labels faster and easier than ever before.

Fooducate has an app that you can download onto your iPhone, iTouch, iPad, or Android device that allows you to scan any product bar code and, in return, it will provide you with the positives and negatives of the ingredients of that item along with healthier alternatives. The Fooducate app shows you things you might have missed otherwise, like whether or not the product contains excessive sugar, trans-fats, additives and preservatives, food coloring, and skewed serving sizes. It even lets you compare two different products side by side.

Take My Life, But Leave My Phone

by liselott Roos (@ liselottroos)
I grab my phone before I even open my eyes. The blaring beeping is the alarm clock on my phone telling me to get up. But, I don't get up, because the first fifteen minutes of my morning are spent on seeing what I've missed during the night. I have to see the news, Twitter, and Facebook before I even get out of bed in the morning. Next, in front of my closet, I grab my phone for the weather report. And finally, on my way to work, I check my phone for my horoscope to see what today will bring me.

On the surface, it seems my phone has made things easier for me. But, has it really? Is it really easier when you always have to be on it? When everybody always knows exactly what you are doing, where you are, and who you're with? There was a time when if you didn't want to talk, you could be left alone by simply not answering the phone. Nowadays? Impossible! People will use every kind of communication medium and social media possible to track you down. Even on Facebook they will ask you why you are not on Twitter, but on Twitter they will ask you why you are not on Facebook anymore.

Have we become slaves to our phones? Are we in control of our phones, or are our phones controlling us?
Guess there is only one way for me to find out. So don't bother calling me guys, I'm switching off my phone...

Forget the iPhone 4

For all you Blackberry users out there who have managed to resist the iPhone movement, rejoice! Blackberry, at their Blackberry World Event, in Orlando, Fl, announced the launch of the Blackberry Bold 9900 and 9930 to take place this summer! These new models, which are the thinnest Blackberry's yet, at 10.5mm, are also known as "Blackberry Touch" because of the touch screen they possess. Both phones will run the brand new Blackberry OS 7 software, which has an enhanced Internet browser, voice-activated content search for both the phone and the web, and Blackberry Balance, which allows you to compartmentalize your personal and professional information into separate realms of content.
