Introducing Uppity

This is Uppity. He's a young artist currently based out of LA. With an impressive single called "Moving to Hollywood," we feel like his buzz is going to continue to grow as his talent gets recognized so naturally, we had to get to know him better and let you get to know him also. Here's a short interview we did with the man himself.

Where does the name Uppity come from?

Uppity typically means to be high class or conceited, which i would often defend in attempt to suppress generic comments. But I realize "Uppity" is much needed, especially living in a dimension where people entertain the ideal of not believing in themselves. Rather then understand your worth and emulate others in hope to achieve greatness you simply...rather be that person.?!? So i encourage this persona in hope that we all begin to analyze our life and acknowledge our worth.

What drives you and what is your inspiration? Did You listen to any artists in particular growing up?

Tupac Shakur has been my mentor and premiere inspiration for years. Regardless to your personal preference regarding the best metaphors, trillest delivery, or how much substance or "swagg" your favorite rapper exhibits. The basis of hip hop began as the most inspirational form of expression and unity. So...as creators we will naturally continue to create and further expand ideals but you must always acknowledge the foundation. In addition, being a product of my environment easily allows me to understand the dynamics of this universe on a higher frequency. This is the energy i follow;

How would you describe your style and what makes you different?

Great question. The most simplistic answer surpasses any of the miscellaneous bullshit there rappers entertain. We have all been demoralized on a variety of scales and need to recondition our mind. Your typical rap artist does it for his own illusory purpose, i simply do it for the people.

When can we expect to hear more from you?

There is a collection of material waiting to be released in the future; Although I plan on releasing an EP to support the promotion of my single Moving to Hollywood.
