Privacy (along with chivalry) is dead
People constantly complain that chivalry is dead, but I think the real issue here is privacy. The spread of gossip and lies has reached another level thanks to the piece of technology we turn to almost every second of the day: social media.
People constantly post status', wall posts, and pictures to Facebook. People like to say their lives are on Facebook. In a way, this is true. People can see who you're friends with, what you did last weekend, and who you're talking to in a matter of seconds. However, it's easy to get the wrong idea on Facebook, too. Each individual wall post or status is just a tidbit of information that can easily be taken out of context. All too often, this is where rumors and lies get started.

The Game: Twitter Drama

Popular rapper, and LA native, The Game, is in a heap of trouble over a Tweet he may or may not be responsible for. The Tweet in question, was sent from The Game's official Twitter account last night, and told fans if they wanted an internship with him, to call the following number. Problem was, the number was for the Compton Police Station, and due to an influx of calls from many excited fans (he has over 580,000 followers), emergency phone lines were tied up for two hours.
The Game then tweeted the Los Angeles Times, after they published a blog article the controversy, and denied he sent the tweet. However, The Game then later tweeted, implying that it was an "accident". The Game, or whoever sent the tweet, is now facing criminal charges, because the phone tie-up compromised public safety. What do you think, did The Game send the tweet, or was his Twitter hacked?

Planking: Fun New Trend or a Death Sentence?
There’s a new wacky phenomenon sweeping the nation, and when I say wacky, I mean WACKY. What is it? Well you probably already guessed it. It’s planking. Yes, planking. If there are any “plankers” out there, raise your hands! (Not really). Planking is the act of lying face and stomach down in a precarious location. Old folks would say this is another case of something absurd damaging our youth. Us young people would interject and just say this is pure and aimless fun. Who would you agree with? And why the hell has it become so popular in the first place?

So you think you can tweet

Raquel Brown (@Dakinigirl)
Tweet this, tweet that...filling people's time lines with sometimes what seems like senseless blabber. Words fill up my screen, and some are quite interesting conversations actually, but some leave you looking at your screen with a blank stare. Hashtags, gotta have the hashtag, make a statement and make it seem as if the message you are trying to convey is more powerful and popular than it really is, all because of this simple symbol before it. The superpower of the keyboard, the steroid for the written word... #Powerful!

Sorry for not being sorry your city didn't make the map
InboxQ.com took an online survey via Twitter to see are the most popular nicknames for some of America's biggest cities using Geo-tags. Guess this is what the map would look like if it was up to the Twitetrverse. Sorry if your town didn't make it, better luck next year.
