New York and Los Angeles are two of the most infamous cities in the world, the only problem is, their placement on opposite coasts makes it impossible to enjoy them at the same time. Depression and Understanding

I recently went through a phase where I was extremely depressed and angry. For what reason, I still do not know. I guess it's pressure; I want security, and I just want to be worry free. I was feeling like I’d been responsible for other people and their feelings, more than I have been for my own. It was really weighing down hard on me. I'd cry for no reason, stayed in my bed all day unless I had work, didn’t really try to connect with people or contact friends, and that’s just not like me. I didn't think anyone would fully understand what my life was actually like, or the thoughts that went through my head. I won’t fake a smile, or pretend to be happy when I’m sad, I just won't, and I physically can’t. If something is wrong with me, it will show on my face, you’ll hear it in my tone, and see it in my body language.

I see a lot of people bending over backwards not to be judgmental these days. In a way, that's good....I think. Passing judgment on others others only divides us and ends up harming ourselves and others. But, it also causes problems when we try so hard not to be judgmental that we wind up being stupid, instead. This is also harmful to ourselves and others, and ought to be avoided as well. 

When someone tells me something that doesn't ring true for my own life, it's not judgmental to decline to take that advice, decide not to finish reading that book, or not to follow that path. It would be stupid to do so, in fact, knowing that it's not for me. We have minds, hearts, and bodies for a reason. It's my opinion that when we allow our actions to be informed by our reason, our emotions, and our visceral response, we are able to triangulate quite well, and come to the correct answer for our own lives. It's when we ignore one of more of these avenues of information - when we let our minds override our feelings about a situation, or let our feelings overcome what we know, intellectually, to be true - that we get into trouble. But, like everything else, it's about balance.

C'est La Vie is an amazing source for new music reviews, event coverage, and interviews with celebrities and people in the biz. C'est La Vie also writes about new designers and fashion lines, as well as critique celebrity outfits and fashion trends in their "Femme Style File" section. They have a dope "Photo of the Day" section and their "Femme Fatale" posts are their version of WadidoLA's Girl of the Week. They even publish an online magazine called "Quick Fix". Do you ever walk out your house worrying what people will think about the way you look? Do you only listen to the songs your friends listen to? Do you hide your feelings a lot? Well, I think you should stop right there! You don’t live to please people, you live to please yourself, and only what YOU think matters.

Say someone asks you ‘’Why are you wearing those shoes with that outfit?’’ DON’T back down and say "Sorry" or change them, and DON’T start an argument about it, but DO reply with another question which puts them on the spot, like ‘’Why are you so interested?’’ This way you aren’t being rude or feeling bad about yourself. LA Girls: Put Your Hands Down!

"Go to Fred Segal, you'll find them there/Laughing so loud so all the little people stare/Looking for a daddy to pay for the champagne/Drop a name/What happened to the dreams of a girl president?/She's dancing in the video next to 50 Cent/They travel in packs of two or three/With their itsy bitsy doggies and their teeny-weeny tees/Where, oh where, have the smart people gone?/Oh where, oh where could they be?" sings Pink in her song titled "Stupid Girls". What the song should have been called, though, is "LA Girls". I was born in Los Angeles in a small house on a hill and from the back porch, you could see the Hollywood sign. Soon thereafter though, my family relocated to the East Coast, stopping briefly in Massachusetts, moving from town to town in Connectictut, until finally settling in Redding, CT. Redding, CT is a small enough town that my high school was combined with the town next to us, so there would be enough students. There are multiple farms and state parks in Redding, but only two restaurants and a town center consisting of the post office and church. Having grown up in a small, quiet, and slow Northeastern town, I grew up with certain values, such as the importance of family, hard work will get you wherever you need to go, and being educated and informed is of the utmost importance. Combining my love for fashion and writing, I plan to be an editor of a magazine one day, so when it came to deciding where to go to college, Los Angeles or New York were the obvious choices. Considering how much I despise cold weather, LA won. My first year in LA has been nothing short of amazing, but what has most amazed me, is the attitudes and lifestyles of the girls I've met who grew up in LA. What I've learned about girls who grew up in LA makes me so thankful my parents decided to uproot and raise my brothers and I somewhere else before it was too late.
